Varta will cut 350 jobs and stop production of button cells in the southern town of Noerdlingen after losing its most important customer, a spokesperson said on Tuesday.
The move affects around 350 jobs in Noerdlingen and at the company headquarters in nearby Ellwangen.
The contract with the customer, which was not named, expires at the end of October. Varta’s Noerdlingen plant almost exclusively produces rechargeable CoinPower button cells for Apple’s AirPods.
