Meijer Baby Recycling Event Returns for Third Year and Strengthens Community Commitment to Sustainability

Since its launch in 2024, more than 30 tons of baby items have been recycled

/PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — Meijer is again offering the popular baby recycling event this spring, inviting families from across the Midwest to contribute to a cleaner, greener community. From May 6 to 19, customers can bring in used, expired or damaged baby items, such as car seats and strollers, to participate in Meijer Super Centers for proper recycling and receive a redeemable coupon.

The retailer had a successful event last spring, during which nearly 18 tons of items were recycled, leading to a total of 30 tons of recycled material since the program’s inception in 2024.

“At Meijer, being a good neighbor means investing in programs that truly make a difference, and we remain committed to supporting families and strengthening our communities through important initiatives like our baby recycling event,” said Don Sanderson, director of merchandising and marketing at Meijer. “We saw a 33% increase in baby items turned in for recycling last year compared to 2024 and are looking forward to another successful year in 2026.”

Meijer’s baby items recycling event accepts a variety of baby items, including car seats, boosters, strollers and travel systems. By choosing to recycle through Meijer, families are not only clearing space, but also directly contributing to building healthier, more sustainable neighborhoods.

To participate, customers must bring accepted baby items to the marked drop-off area near the customer service counter at their local Meijer store. In recognition of their commitment to the community, participants will receive a special offer code redeemable in their mPerks account for 25% off one item from Meijer’s baby department during the redemption period, May 6 to June 2.
