Kazakh national team qualifies for Billie Jean King Cup final

/PRNewswire/ — The women’s national tennis team ofKazakhstan has secured its place in the final round of the Billie Jean King Cup after a 3-1 victory over Canada in the qualifying round in Astana.

The result reflects a strong and cohesive team performance over the two days, with crucial contributions in both singles and doubles. Yulia Putintseva sealed qualification with a hard-fought victory over former US Open champion Bianca Andreescu in a match that lasted three hours and 39 minutes. Previously, Anna Danilina and Zhibek Kulambayeva had won a confident double victory over Andreescu and Kayla Cross, while Sonja Zhiyenbayeva made her debut for the national team.

This is the fourth time that Kazakhstan takes part in the final round of the tournament. This continues the series of consistent performances at the highest level since 2022 and underlines the growing strength and depth of the national program. This achievement reflects the success of Kazakhstan’s long-term and systematic approach to tennis development, underpinned by sustained investment in infrastructure, player development and high performance training.

The recent international recognition of Kazakhstan’s training system, including the award of Gold status to the National Tennis Center of Kazakhstan by the International Tennis Federation, highlights the progress the country has made in aligning its tennis system with global standards.
