Consumer Price Index Revision Committee’ has been formed, including workers, employers, officials and expert representatives, to oversee the survey. The district-level inauguration of the family budget survey was conducted by collector Anu Kumari at the collectorate.
The consumer price index is calculated based on the annual expenditure of agricultural and industrial worker families on necessities such as food, clothing, housing, education, healthcare and entertainment. The allowances in these sectors will be revised and determined based on this index.
In the initial phase, information of workers from employment centres, where the minimum wage law applies, will be collected. In the next phase, comprehensive data collection will be conducted from selected worker families. This includes gathering information on family members, income, housing conditions, amenities and the quantity and value of all goods and services consumed daily.
Data collection is carried out through a specially developed application by department of economics and statistics. The information will be reviewed by department officials, and reports will be prepared to aid in determining the consumer price index. Appointments have been made through the employment exchange for this purpose. Additionally, training has been provided to department officials for conducting the survey and collecting prices of essential goods from the market.
