EBOLA TREATMENT CENTERS CREATED BY SAMARITAN’S PURSE OPEN AT EPICENTER OF DEADLY OUTBREAK

/PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — Samaritan’s Purse has established two Ebola treatment centers in Bunia and Nyankunde, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), to care for patients affected by the Ebola virus. Each of these facilities is a specially equipped emergency mobile hospital with 40 patient beds, to help meet the needs of Ituri province, where almost 90% of the confirmed cases so far are located. Samaritan’s Purse doctors and nurses are already providing direct care in Bunia. The Nyankunde facility is scheduled to open soon and will provide the local hospital with urgently needed infectious disease treatment capacity.

EBOLA TREATMENT CENTERS CREATED BY SAMARITAN’S PURSE OPEN AT EPICENTER OF DEADLY OUTBREAK

“Ebola is an extremely dangerous virus and the number of cases is increasing,” reported Franklin Graham, the president of Samaritan’s Purse. “These Ebola treatment centers will help isolate and care for patients affected by the virus. Our prayer is that they will also give hope to families and communities who are scared and suffering. We want them to know that God loves them. Please pray for this outbreak to end once and for all, and for our team members who are willing to go and help in the name of Jesus.”

Samaritan’s Purse has worked in the region for decades and has a national office in the DRC. The organization also sent 65 disaster response team members to support this effort. In addition to patient care, they are providing information on hygiene and preventive education and have already installed dozens of sinks. This is essential to help stop the spread of the disease.

Samaritan’s Purse has also provided staff with protective equipment that helps protect health professionals in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, who collaborate with the mission’s partner hospitals. The North Carolina-based organization has flown in tons of these life-saving resources and is actively seeking more personal protective equipment to help meet the growing needs in the affected area.
