OpenAI looks beyond AI software

In the post, Sam Altman wrote OpenAI Robotics is looking for “exceptional full-stack hardware, ops, systems, and ML engineers” to help develop robots that can be useful for society. “AI should be able to help people in the physical world,” Altman said.

He said the company’s near-term focus is on building robots that can support skilled workers and help develop future infrastructure.

“In the short term, we are focused on robots to support skilled workers to build our future infrastructure,” Altman said.

Looking further ahead, Altman outlined a much broader vision for robotics.

“In the long term, we imagine everyone having a personal robot doing anything they need,” he wrote.
