/PRNewswire/ — The women’s national tennis team ofKazakhstan secured their place in the final phase of the Billie Jean King Cup after a 3-1 victory over Canada in the qualifying round held in Astana.

This result was the result of a strong and consistent team performance over both days, with decisive contributions in both singles and doubles. Yulia Putintseva qualified by beating former US Open champion Bianca Andreescu in a match that lasted three hours and 39 minutes. Earlier in the competition, Anna Danilina and Zhibek Kulambayeva earned a doubles victory over Andreescu and Kayla Cross, while Sonja Zhiyenbayeva made her first appearance for the national team.
This is the fourth time that Kazakhstan will compete in the final stage of the tournament and continue to perform consistently at the highest level since 2022, highlighting the growing strength and depth of the national program. This achievement reflects the success of Kazakhstan’s systematic, long-term approach to tennis development, underpinned by sustained investment in infrastructure, player development and high-level coaching.
Recent international recognition of the country’s coaching ecosystem, including by the International Tennis Federation which awarded the Kazakhstan National Tennis Center Gold Level status, further highlights the progress the country has made in aligning its tennis system with global standards. Together, these efforts contribute to the formation of a strong talent pool and the achievement of consistent performances at the highest levels of international competition.

The Billie Jean King Cup final, which will bring together the best international women’s tennis teams, is scheduled to take place in Shenzhen, China, in the fall of 2026. Kazakhstan will join the eight nations qualified for the title.
