This annual competition brings together TAWA member journalists from across the state to evaluate a wide variety of the industry’s best sedans, trucks, electric vehicles, SUVs and CUVs based on everyday driving conditions.

After testing each vehicle on predetermined circuits, both off-road and urban, TAWA members voted for the best in various categories. Journalists were encouraged to drive the vehicles as if they were simulating their own daily driving experience.
Each year, manufacturers submit their vehicles for TAWA members to evaluate and vote on the models they believe are best suited for Texas drivers. Awards are determined through a ranked-choice voting system, with points for first, second and third place in multiple categories. These winners are competing for this year’s “Texas Car” title, which will be announced soon.
