Bengaluru: Amid uncertainty over onboarding, lateral hires offered roles at TCS are now rethinking their resignations. However, the firm is not providing any confirmed joining dates. “They were asking me when I can join — Aug or Sept. He gave me a date for Monday or Wednesday in August but didn’t commit to which one,” an affected engineer said. According to candidates, the HR team has conveyed that there is no clear visibility on when onboarding will happen. In some cases, TCS has sent out pre-joining verification emails, with the process to be conducted virtually. “My joining date was July 9. After speaking with my HR, it has now been postponed to Oct. However, the email still mentioned that they would take me through the joining documents,” one candidate shared.

For many, onboarding has now been pushed to Oct, adding to the uncertainty faced by lateral hires. An email sent to TCS didn’t elicit a response till the time of going to the press. However, in a previous email inquiry to TCS, the company assured candidates that it remains committed to honouring the job offers and will proceed with onboarding as soon as the need arises. “We can confirm that, as always, TCS is committed to honour all offers we made, whether it is to freshers or experienced professionals. Everyone who received an offer from TCS will be onboarded. The joining dates are decided as per business demand and, in some cases, they do get adjusted to meet our business needs. We remain in continuous touch with all candidates in these cases and look forward to them joining our company soon,” the company said in response to TOI’s earlier queries.
