JSW Steel has roped in Sandeep Batra as its new president and CHRO–Steel Corporate, effective today, that is, 18 November, 2025. With his extensive background, Batra is expected to help the organisation build more agile, future-ready HR systems that support both its operational and strategic goals.
The move comes as the company continues to reinforce its people strategy amid changing industry dynamics and an evolving workforce landscape.
Batra joins JSW Steel with over three decades of experience in human resources. His career spans 31 years across diverse sectors such as IT, ITES, telecom, consumer durables and retail sectors. His passion lies in talent vitality, diversity and inclusivity and building high-performance teams.
Before joining JSW Steel, he served as chief people officer at Adani Airport Holdings and Adani Digital Labs, where he played a key role in shaping culture and developing large-scale people practices. He joined the company in 2022.
Batra has worked with several other renowned organisations such as Landmark Group, Vodafone-Idea, Bharti Teletech and Cendant Corporation. His expertise lies in organisational transformation, talent management, and leadership development. He has also served in the Indian Army as a commissioned officer from 1993 to 1999.
An alumnus of IIM Calcutta, Batra is a commerce graduate from the University of Delhi.
The appointment reflects JSW Steel’s intent to strengthen its HR leadership at a time when the steel industry is navigating technological shifts and sustainability imperatives, and increasing competition for skilled talent. His addition to the senior management team also signals a greater emphasis on aligning workforce initiatives with the company’s long-term growth plans.
