Ericsson developed this portfolio through over two decades ofsustained and focused R&D that predicted and paved the way for the transition from fixed-function hardware to virtualized, cloud-native infrastructure. As a result, the portfolio covers broad technology areas that today operate at the heart of platforms run byhyperscalersand cloud providers, networking and infrastructure companies, and network security providers.The patented inventions in the portfoliosolve many of the technical challenges facing core technologies central to today’s software-defined networks, Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) cloud computing platforms, content delivery networks, and data centers.
In particular, the portfolio covers numerous cutting-edge technologies, including software-defined networking (SDN) and programmable network control, network function virtualization (NFV), service chaining, cloud and data center resource creation and orchestration, storage provisioning and data replication.
