Bharti AXA Life to empower youth & women with ‘BIMA Bharti’ programme

Bharti AXA Life Insurance has introduced a new flagship apprenticeship initiative called BIMA BHARTI, aimed at enhancing skill development and creating employment opportunities across India. Launched under the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) introduced in the Union Budget 2025, the programme is aligned with the Government of India’s broader vision of empowering youth and promoting employability in emerging sectors.

BIMA BHARTI targets undergraduates and recent graduates, offering them a structured platform to gain industry-specific training and experience in the insurance sector. As part of the initiative, Bharti AXA Life has already onboarded 200 apprentices and plans to recruit an additional 600 from across the country, bringing the total to 800.

A key focus of the programme is to increase female participation, with the goal of narrowing the gender gap in the financial-services industry.

The six-month long apprenticeship will see participants gaining hands-on experience in a variety of roles including marketing, customer service, business development and recruitment. These opportunities aim to provide a comprehensive understanding of the insurance industry while equipping apprentices with the skills needed for long-term career growth.

According to Dhanashree Thakkar, head – human resources and distribution training, Bharti AXA Life, the programme is designed to build a future-ready workforce. “Tailored onboarding processes and mentorship support will ensure that apprentices are well prepared to contribute meaningfully to the organisation and the sector,” she added.

Participants will receive certification from the Government of India upon completion, enhancing their job prospects across the country. In addition to structured learning, performance-based incentives will be provided to encourage high achievement.
